Why More Couples Are Choosing a DJ Set Between Live Band Performances

Over the past year, we've noticed an interesting trend.

More and more couples are asking us to split the evening entertainment differently. Instead of the traditional format of two live band sets with a short break in between, they're requesting something like this:

• DJ Set (around 45–60 minutes)

• Live Band Finale

At first, we thought it was just the occasional request. But we're now seeing it often enough that it's become a genuine trend.

Why is this happening?

There are a few reasons.

It keeps the dancefloor fresh

A great live band creates an incredible atmosphere, but so does a great DJ.

Switching between live music and a DJ changes the energy of the room. Guests experience something different before the band returns for a big finale, helping the evening feel dynamic rather than repetitive.

Couples want the best of both worlds

Live music brings personality, interaction and the excitement that only real musicians can create.

A DJ, on the other hand, can move seamlessly between genres, play modern chart music, house classics, dance anthems and guilty pleasures without needing to rehearse hundreds of additional songs.

Combining both often gives couples the widest musical choice without compromising on atmosphere.

Different guests enjoy different styles

Every wedding has a mix of ages and musical tastes.

A live band might have everyone singing along to classics, while a DJ can effortlessly switch into club tracks, R&B, dance music or current chart hits for the younger guests.

Does this mean shorter live band performances?

In many cases, the total amount of live music stays the same. It's simply split differently.

Others benefit from mixing live performance with a DJ.
